Garlic mojo shrimp Jalisco style

Today I bring you a very simple recipe to prepare and with which you can accompany a variety of dishes, are the garlic mojo shrimp Jalisco style.

  • 900 grams of shrimp
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Wash well, peel the shrimp and with a knife make a cut on the top to remove the vein they contain.
  2. Rinse the shrimp again and leave them in a colander to drain the water.
  3. Grind 4 cloves of garlic in a mortar with a pinch of salt and add the mixture to the shrimp, stir well and then add pepper to taste. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand for 10 minutes.
  4. Mince the remaining 4 cloves of garlic and in a hot skillet over medium-low heat, add butter and olive oil. Stir the garlic constantly to prevent it from burning, then add the shrimp and stir the mixture occasionally.
  5. Once the shrimp turn pink on each side, about 5 minutes, they are done.


  • If you want the shrimp to be much more seasoned, you can leave them in the refrigerator for 1 hour along with the garlic, salt and pepper mixture.
  • Keep adjusting the amount of pepper to add. Another recommendation is to use butter instead of margarine, since margarine doesn’t burn as fast.
  • In case you have frozen shrimp at home, it is best to defrost 30 minutes or more in advance.
