Today we will prepare a creamy pasta with shrimp and mushrooms accompanied by a rich homemade sauce. The creamy pasta sauce is made with Parmesan cheese, chopped red chili, garlic and basil, come and join us to prepare this delicious recipe!


  • 250 grams of pasta
  • 1 kilogram of medium sized shrimps, cut and deveined
  • 200 grams of mushrooms cut in thin slices
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon chopped red chili bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Cook pasta according to package directions, drain with a colander and reserve some of the pasta water. In a large hot skillet add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and immediately add the garlic and shrimp. Cook on one side for 1 minute until pink, over medium-high heat.
  2. Turn each shrimp to cook thoroughly and then sprinkle each side with dried basil, chopped red chile, pepper and salt. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are pink on both sides. Reserve shrimp in a bowl.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Add more olive oil if necessary and cook over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mushrooms soften and release their juices. Sprinkle with a small amount of salt halfway through cooking and finally add the shrimp to finish cooking.
  4. Add half of the cheese (½ cup). Bring to a boil and immediately lower to medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the cheese melts. Then gradually add the remaining cheese (½ cup), while stirring. Remove from heat and add more salt if necessary.
  5. Add the cooked and drained pasta from step 1 to the skillet with the shrimp and mushrooms and cream sauce. Reheat over medium heat and stir well. Season with more salt and add more crushed red bell pepper flakes and basil to taste. And that’s it, you have a tasty pasta with shrimp and mushrooms.


  • When adding the cheese, it is important to add it little by little so that the sauce becomes creamy without thickening too much. It is not necessary to use all the cheese to prepare this pasta with shrimp and mushrooms.
  • If the cream sauce is too thick and you want it thinner, add a little pasta water in small amounts to the cream sauce (while the sauce is simmering) until it reaches the desired consistency.
